Engineering and ACT retake

I want to apply to engineering, but right now I'm barely scraping the middle 50% with a 13th percentile class rank and 30 ACT (36 E 29 M 27 R 27 S.) I do want to retake the ACT- but the next administration isn't until December 11. I'm very confident that my score will improve (my top scores from past administrations equate to a 32, and I have scored up to 34 on real ACT practice exams) enough to give me a better shot, but I'm unsure whether they will receive my scores from the Dec. 11 date in time to use them for evaluation.

First off, should I apply priority regardless? If they see that I'm retaking the ACT, will they defer me rather than outright reject me? And should I apply engineering or LAS and transfer?

Since you are already in the mid 50 percentiles for ACT and Class Rank, I still say you could get in. I'm not really sure on how many students are accepted into the College of Engineering, but you would have a good chance. December 11th ACT would be quite a bit too late for UIUC to consider, I would think.

You should apply priority even if you are retaking the ACT in December. They make the obvious decisions early and save the rest until around February, so you shouldn't be outright rejected.

Hmmmm... you sure about that? I just don't wanna make a stupid decision, knowing that I can apply regular and have them see the new scores.

If you want to be for sure, just call them or give them an e-mail.
