<p>Anyone an Engineer/engineering major who's also in the rotc program. I'm in the AFROTC program and I am majoring in ChemEng. I'm finishing up my 1st year here at UCSD and I have no clue what type of jobs are there for me in the Air Force.
Is there anyone here who can give me some insight?</p>
<p>I used to be in AFROTC when I was in engineering. I did not continue with AFROTC when I transferred to another school but I do know others that went into the Air Force. At my particular detachment many of the engineering majors went into pilot or navigator training. Others went into maintenance. Personally, I was looking at air battle management. Those careers are open to any engineering major. For chemical engineers, I imagine there are jobs in fields related to fuels, environmental issues, etc. The officers at your detachment should be able to point you to some good resources.</p>
<p>navy is huge with engineering, as they should be. they need engineers to make ships drive right? Especially in submarines, every officer has to be a trained nuclear engineer. There is also the civil engineering corps, engineering duty officers, and many more engineering jobs. </p>
<p>Air force wise, I’m not 100% sure, but I strongly recommend that you check out and even possibly even link up with the Society of American Military Engineers chapter in San Diego.</p>

<p>You could do almost any Air Force job. Some jobs require specific degrees, like research scientists, doctors, behavioral scientists, civil engineers, etc. With ChemE, you could be a research scientist, pilot, security forces, communications, air battle manager, etc. etc…</p>
<p>The military will assign you a MOS that complements your education ONLY if they have a head count shortfall in that field. If you’re a Civil Engineer and they’re currently filled up in that category you can be assigned to Food Services or anything else. Those in the medical field are most likely to be assigned a position that relates to their education.</p>
