Hey everyone.
So i was accepted ED to CoE class of 2015.
I plan on majoring in Operations Research in the future and was wondering which AP exams I should take this coming may.

I know that the engineering website already has a list of credits they approve, however those are all math/sciences/comp sci.

Here's a list of the courses i'm not sure if i should take, and any feedback is greatly appreciated.

English Lit - Can I use this to waive the writing seminar requirement? What scores do i need? (website says "depends on faculty")

Micro&Macro Econ - are credits given for CoE? (perhaps use them for liberal arts requirement?)

Chinese

Physics B - Credit for Phys 1112 if 5

Physics C (E&M) - Opt out of Phys 2213 if 5

I've already taken:
- Chem (5) - Chem 2090
- Calc BC (5) - Math 1910
- Linear Algebra (college accepts transfer credit) - Math 2940
- Comp Sci A (5) - CS 1110 --> should i use this credit? (i'm perhaps taking CS 2800 and Math 2930 in the future for degree requirements)

Good thread. if i may i would like to ask about a couple more AP’s (also for COE)
-APUSH, Psych, US gov&politics (for liberal arts requirements?)

A 4 or 5 in APUSH, Psych, US Gov, Micro/Macro E will qualify for liberal arts requirements. Overall lib arts credits are capped at 18. I am not surel about 2940 college credit though.

Only one FWS can be waived if you have a 5 in Lit and/or Lang/Comp. One you will have to take at Cornell.

I submitted a transfer credit request, and a math prof. replied saying that the Linear Algebra course i took at my local university does grant credit for Math 2940. (I suppose this means giving credit towards the graduation requirement.)

For Eng. Lit AP, it does indicate that 5 would grant credits for 1 Writing seminar, but it also says that getting a 4 would give 3 credits for the liberal arts requirement (in the Literature and Arts section). I guess this means that getting a 4 doesn’t waive 1 seminar.

What about the 2 elective requirement? Can anyone expand on which courses qualify for this requirement?

Stats AP (CoE currently doesn’t give credits)

Transfer credits are not applied on Electives. You have to earn them at CoE. Usually, the options are listed in the handbook and can also be discussed with your advisor once you affiliate.

No credit for AP Stat and many other AP classes NOT listed on the transfer credit sheet.
