I wasn't singling anyone out - i just thought that in general he was getting a lot of negative responses. Which personally, i didn't think were warranted. Anyway, i think tabbyzmom is right - this is the risk of posting stats (or anything, i guess) on a message board.

The other problem with posting stats on a message board is that a lot of the time, they are fabrications in an effort to get some "shock value" from those reading threads like these. I'd take all "stats" posted with a huge grain of salt.

How important do you think SAT math is to engineering? I have a relatively low SAT math but a high verbal, but I'm convinced the verbal is not really literary anyway. Anyone else feel like this/in the same situation?

I totally agree with you about the stats breeze. And plus that, I don't think the specific numbers are as important at Rice as they are at alot of other schools. Rice seems to have a more complex acceptance system.

I wouldn't say the SAT I Math is crucial if you have a very strong classroom record in Math and Science. Also, if you have a very high SAT II Math2C/Physics/Chemistry score, or a strong AP Calculus score, it would help out a lot as well.

And yes, I am in just the same situation as you. My Verbal score is 60 points higher than my Math score, although my math score should still fall within the middle 50%. I am hoping to do better on the Math SAT I this Saturday! :crosses fingers:

Joey

good luck on your SAT this saturday! :)

(i hate the 60 second rule.... )

Thank you :)!

I'm in the same boat too with a higher verbal than math, but my ec's are engineering/science related, so hopefully that balances things out a bit.

do you just mean application-wise?

bump now that ID is out
