I've heard that engineering is very good at Case Western. I was wondering if some students could share their thoughts about their experiences at case especially electrical engineering. Thanks.

I hope you hear from some students. I can only tell you my impressions from my son who is a senior majoring in EE. The coursework is challenging. I believe he has been satisfied with the size of classes, the instruction (there were lectures and recitations in the lower level courses,) and the facilities. My husband is an EE, and I think he is pleased with our son's experience at Case. We asked very specific questions of the department before my son enrolled (about placing out of certain courses, AP credit, etc.) and they were very detailed and helpful in their responses. Feel free to contact them. Good luck.

Well, I guess I'm kinda qualified to talk about EE...I'm a biomedical engineer with a specialization in bioelectricity, so I take a few of the same courses that EEs take (plus all of the engineering core).

Overall, engineering is tough, but good. The professors for the core curriculum are typically very good and friendly. TAs teach the recitation sections for the engineering core, and I have only encountered one that has not been very helpful. This is my 4th semester here, and I've been pleased with the amount that I have learned in my time here...tons and tons and tons (that correlates directly to the amount of work that is assigned).

Several of the professors that I have enjoyed the most are from the EE department. I'm currently in the circuits class for EEs (a 2nd semester of circuits following the core course) and there are about 50 people in it, which I really don't think is too bad for size. (Obviously the higher the level of course, the smaller they get.) I think the prof is pretty good, but that opinion may change after I take his first exam next week :-)

If you have any more specific questions I'd be glad to try to answer them...now I have to get back to finishing some work...:-)

Good to hear your experience with the core engineering courses. Does anyone
have experience with the mechanical/aerospace engineering department?

How do engineering students do with job and graduate school placement?
Internships? Thanks.

I'm a 4th yaer Aerospace Major. I think the department is really great. We have some of the best profs (JM Prhal, the dept chair is the best) and the department is well conected with NASA Glen research center in cleveland. Theres also a lot of wind tunnel and propulsions research going on at Case, which students can get involed with. I've co-oped with NASA in Houston which means i pretty much have a job there when i graduate if i want it. A lot of other students have co-oped at NASA Glen, GE Aircraft Engines, Lockheed and Boieng. Job placement after college is good at Case across the board i think. The Mech/Aero dept. Profs have lots of industry connections too.
