Engineering at GT, Cornell, WashU, Duke

I've applied to all these schools (accepted to washu and gt already), and I am wondering which school has the strongest program for chemE and BME. I live in GA so HOPE scholarship pays full tuition at Georgia tech, but I'm not sure if I want to stay in the south. Money is a bit of an issue; I will have to take out loans if I go private. How do the programs at these universities compare?

Georgia Tech is the better overall engineering school, better BME school, and better ChE school. In addition, it’s $150,000 cheaper than the other options.

It’s up to you how much you want to get out of Georgia, but over 50% of GT engineers are placed outside of the state.

your thinking about passing up a free ride at a top engineering school to go to WUSTL, Duke, or Cornell…why? I know the others are more ‘prestigious’ but…

HOPE is not quite a free ride. It’s free tuition, but students are still responsible for living expenses and about $1000/yr in fees.

You would be insane to not go with GT given your financial situation.

Yeah, I was leaning towards GT anyway. Besides, I’m in that range where I’m not poor enough to earn a full ride, but I’m not rich enough to make private schools easy to pay for. I guess state school is for me.
