Engineering at Public Schools

Does anybody know which public colleges have the best engineering programs? (preferably ones in the east)

umich, uiuc, gatech

there's more...can't think of any now though

Something like 1 out of 50 engineers are Penn State graduates. Penn State was my second-choice because I was so impressed with their college of engineering

what is uiuc?

university of illinois at urbana-champaign

University of California-Berkeley, University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Purdue, University of Texas-Austin, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Penn State

A little secret...which area has one of the highest hiring rate for entry level engineering/consulting jobs? Washington DC/Northern Virginia. UMD has the advantage of being right in the backyard of the nation's capital. Defense Contractors like Lockheed Martin/Northrop Grumman/Raytheon, consulting firms like Booz Allan Hamilton/Accenture/Deloitte, and government agencies like NSA/DoD recruit more Maryland students than almost any other school. In terms of pub. school engineering in east coast, it's one of the best schools to attend in order to get a good job offer in the gov./consulting/defense sectors.

any specific UMD? or just any in general?

UMD refers to University of Maryland-College Park, which is the main campus.

Also Virginia Tech and UVA, most students come from Northern Virginia and the Suburbs of Washington D.C. Great place to study and with assess to the "Defense Contractors like Lockheed Martin/Northrop Grumman/Raytheon, consulting firms like Booz Allan Hamilton/Accenture/Deloitte, and government agencies like NSA/DoD"
Good point Terp1004

what about UCLA? How do they compare with GA Tech?

uiuc vs. ga tech perhaps? for Electrical engineering school
