Im a junior in high school and I'm thinking about applying to SDSU,SLO, and UCSB as an environmental or chemical engineer next year. My gpa is 4.1 and my SAT scores were 1650 and i haven't taken the ACT yet. Im trying to figure out my chances of getting accepted to each school, and how much better of a chance ill have with a 30+ on the ACT? Any advice greatly appreciated!

SAT score is low for UCSB and SLO. SDSU would be a Match if your CSU/UC GPA is 4.1.
An ACT of 30+ would definitely increase your chances at UCSB and SLO. Study hard for the ACT and Good Luck.

I agree with the post above. Prep hard for the test, and the ACT might be more your test than the SAT in any event. Try at least an online practice test to see.

Would i be likely to get accepted as an engineer to SDSU?

SDSU uses the Eligibility index calculation to rank their applicants see link:<a href=“First-Year Students | SDSU”>First-Year Students | SDSU;
If you have an EI of 4100+, you stand a good chance for acceptance at SDSU.
If you get an ACT of 30+ with your GPA, I would say you would be a Match for UCSB.
Cal Poly SLO is a low reach. My younger son’s friends all with UC GPA’s of 4.3+ were denied this year at SLO, but still apply. There is always a chance…

It’s possible, but you need to consider your stem scores too. It would be better to have an A in Calc BC and a B in ap Lit than the converse. That said, I hope most of your stem grades are A’s.

Cal Poly SLO does not have ChemE, but luckily Environmental E is not as difficult to get admitted to as some of their other Engineering majors (but still difficult).
