Engineering at WashU?

How is the engineering program?

I applied engineering but didn’t do much research. Just searched the internet and found that their engineering school ranked only 43th (USNews) not very good. :(

Oh darn. I did that too…
Shoot.
Thanks.

USNews ratings are often based on number of publications, total amount of grant dollars, etc. So the 43 rating is more an indication that it is a smaller program, not that it isn’t as high quality as many other top notch programs.

Oh okay. That is good to know. I wasn’t sure how the rankings worked.
How is the program though?

Wash U is a respectable university… imo it offers a more broad undergraduate experience than some specifically engineering schools… depends what you’re looking for. Don’t disregard it just because of the ranking.

While it depends on what major you intend on pursuing, the resources for engineers here are bountiful. As a first year chemical engineering student, I have already taken an incredibly interesting intro course for my major co-taught by two of the best professors in the department. I encourage you to seriously consider what you want your engineering education to be like (technical vs. Intellectual, etc) and do your own research! (which might include talking with current students, feel free to PM me)
