Hi, I live in NJ and I am Indian. I would like to do some sort of engineering, right now automotive engineering. Penns SAE program really interests me. Since I also like biology, I will keep bioengineering as a fallback major. Here are my stats:

So, what do you guys think?

You did better than me... I got a 700 on the math, and a 690 on the math iic, and I got into both Cornell and CMU regular o_O. It's not all about the stats.. really get them with the essay

Damn hopefuldoubts, your essay must have kicked ass, how did you get in with those SAT's. You must have had good rec's too and tough classes, or you just lucked out, nice job.

ok first of all let's get the minority thing out of the way it doesn't matter if you're indian it only matters if you are an underpriviliged minority (hispanic, black, native american). Also cornel RD is much more difficult than ED because in RD you are competing with kids applying to harvard, mit, yale, etc so the acceptance rate is like half of what it is for ED. you will definitely get into lehigh and rutgers and i think ED at UPenn could work out because it's less competitive than RD. UPenn and Cornell are the easiest ivies to get into

no honest to god, penn is the hardest to get into out of the three... i'm sorry if it seems that i was trying to be a jerk... but if you consider the number of applicants... and the board scores of the people applying, it is clearly harder to get into penn

umm...I think Dartmouth, Brown, and Columbia are a little bit harder to get into than Penn. Maybe not wharton, but certainly engineering and A&S.

no... if u really look at the board scores of the applicants, and compare the breakdown of acceptees... it's really harder to get into penn, because they have a preference for kids in PA... so if ur not from pennsylvania, it's hella hard to get into... where as for brown, i know for a fact is easier to get into... i had a friend with a terrible essay a 3.3 UW and a 1300 sat get in, plus he was asian... that can't help... if penn was that easy to get into, i'd def apply there

cavalier302- columbia's seas program has acceptance of 29-30%? and that is why i applied there vs. penn's seas

I have heard things like why would you apply early at Penn engineering, but I have decided. Could people rate my chance at the tougher schools, like Northwestern, CMU, Cornell, Rice and Penn ED?

How much are senior grades considered? Also, does one of the recommendations for engineering have to be a math teacher? On the common app I didn't see anything like that.
