DD was recently accepted to SLO as a physics major. She is still waiting to hear back from other schools but she was very excited. One of her interests is in nanotechnology. From the course catalog she found that there are a couple of nano classes in the engineering school. I’m curious if anyone can comment on her ability to take those classes as a physics major? Are engineering classes available to “non-engineering” students? If so, does she have much of a chance of getting into any of them? Or are engineering classes too “oversubscribed”?
Any class is available to any student as long as they meet the prerequisites or can convince the professor that their background in another department is sufficient. Classes aren’t that difficult to get. Just be warned, for the real niche classes, sometimes a year will go by where they don’t offer it.
