Engineering: CMU or U-M

Hi, i'm an Australian chinese. i've been accepted to carnegie mellon and michigan for engineering. i've done my homework so i know both a prestigious school, one's a large, public school and the other is private and significantly smaller. i'm still largely undecided so i'd like to get the input of alumni, attending students, parents, prospective students or whoever. the more information the better. feel free to post a feature or whatever is unique about the school here.

at the end of the day, i want to find out which school is a better fit for me. thanks.

I believe it depends on what kind of engineering you want to study. For ECE, CMU has a better program and for MechE, U-M is better.

Garage is correct.

CMU. More international student body. Satellite campus in Australia? Check with the Australian alumini assoc.
The ‘better’ ranking is minor. CMU will strive to keep you in school and graduate in 4 yrs. Mich is a state public and its first obligation will be towards its instate-first and always.

Better and easier airport connections. BIG difference.
