Engineering College Transfer

Hello guys, I am currently a student at a college with an engineering program which only offers 2 years and helps you transfer out. I am doing Mechanical Engineering. One of the colleges I wish to apply to is Cornell, and i understand that to transfer into its engineering is extremely difficult. However I have been researching for some time, and they state on their website that as long as I complete all the transfer requirements and keep my gpa up, that is all that matters. I will have all of their listed classes finished and my gpa should be at a 3.5 at the end of this year, and hopefully higher by the time I apply next spring. I wanted to ask if there was any tips anyone can offer. Anything from who I can get in contact with to increase my chances or guide me, or what other colleges I should keep in my head while looking to apply. Even something as a list of do and donts will help. Also just to be in detail, I will list out all the classes I will have taken: Calculus 1,2,3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Intro to C++, Mechanics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Chemistry 1, Physics 1,2,3, and will have finished the two liberal arts courses.
