Engineering College

How hard is it to get into compared to the other colleges?

What is the average workload? Such as, how much hours per day of study, etc.

Do most engineering majors stay for 4 years? or possibly 4.5 and even 5?

What is considered a 'good' GPA?

Can anyone with experience enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.

You have about the same chance of getting in as the other colleges. But definitely put Watson (Engineering School) as your first choice. It’s much easier to be accepted directly rather than transferring later on from one of the other BU schools.

There is a lot of work, but it is definitely manageable. Hours a day really just depends on the person. But in Watson your schedule is very rigid. Here’s a link to the class you requirements you would need to take depending on the concentration:
[Binghamton University - Thomas J . Watson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences: Watson Advising: Current Students: Major Requirements](http://www2.binghamton.edu/watson/advising/current/major-reqs.html)

Most engineering majors will stay 4 years for their undergraduate degree. There are a lot of options to stay longer for different types of master’s degrees though.

A “good” gpa also depends. typically a 3.0 is equivalent to a B, 3.5=A. If some classes are really difficult, a professor will usually have a curve.

Watson is a really good school, and the Professors a great. Plus there is a brand new engineering building opening soon so that’s a plus.

Good Luck!

I read that computer sciences will not be in the new Watson building, where are they and how are the facilities, haven’t been able to visit yet?
