Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience & Economics? How can I combine all of my interests

Hello everyone, as it says in the title. I greatly enjoy all 4 fields which I have listed. If I could I would major in all of them because of how facilitating they are and how enjoyable they are to me.

What majors/minors should I take to combine all of my interests into a manageable schedule? Any advice is appreciated.

Doing any sort of engineering degree (which computer science typically counts as one) alone is going to be very time consuming. You usually get a very limited number of credit hours that are allocated for free electives. Chances are neuroscience and econ classes only count for free elective credit.

I plan on double majoring, I would like to know which combination of majors allows me to combine it all if thats possible.

Cognitive Science?

No, as you will find out, engineering is enough. Just take classes in the other interest fields.

You could combine 3 of 4 in BME…

So no double major then.

Would BME focus only on the medical side of things or would I still be able to learn raw comp sci/engineering?

Combining engineering and CS is easy. Please expand on what neuroscience and economics mean to you and why you are interested (i.e. what do you see yourself getting out of them?).

Consider biomedical engineering or computer science. Lots of neuro rehab is using software programs for recovery.

Depends on where you go to school and what the school’s requirement for graduation say. A typical ABET accredited engineering major requires almost 3+ years of class requirements and you need to add the other graduation requirements on top of that. If you have AP credits and attend a college that does give credit, you may be able to get out of some of the science, math and english requirements saving about 1 semester or more during which you may be able to study other subjects.

Only place I can think of where you can do all of these subjects is Brown since they have mostly an open curriculum.

Cognitive Science is the intersection of Neuroscience and Computer Science. You can choose to add on more electives in Computer Sciences to possibly double major - that is your best bet.

Don’t even think you can manage a proper engineering major with neuroscience - it will be a logistical nightmare. Engineering will, plain and simple, not leave you with slots to take much other besides the required GE courses. A proper engineering program is just too intense on its own. There is a reason engineer majors start laughing when other students complain about workload.

except architecture students who laugh when engineering students complain about workload

@turbo93 lol, yeah i have 2 architect younger cousins (siblings). I see your point

Thank you everyone for your advice. It really means a lot.
