Engineering creativity?

Hey everyone! RoboticMe here again.
I have been strongly considering declaring Mechanical E. as my major, but I just need some assurance that this is the right choice.
I am a creative person. I love hands-on work; if I want something, I try to make it rather than buy it. That is just what I love to do. I do know basic robotics from my HS robotics team, and I really like it.
I get bored easily with many things...mostly things that don't include anything near writing, drawing, building something, fixing electronics, problem solving, filming movies, etc. It seems like many creative-type of people do.
An hour and a half is my limit before my brain starts hurting and I want to go make something.
I love to visualize things. I naturally visualize things I have to remember, rather than just remembering facts and numbers.

I've been considering Journalism (for it's fast pace, and my love for politics), Architecture, film directing, and Mech. E. I know that Mechanical engineering is a very broad field and I seem to really like that about it. I could really do whatever I want with it - from product design to building cars.

Any other ideas? How do you like Mech. Engineering?
