Engineering Day

Is anyone going tomorrow? :)

Where does it say on their site that tomorrow is Engineering Day? I can’t find it.

Well, I’m not sure where on the site it is, but I was invited through email! It’s a registration required event, so if you’re not already registered, I don’t think you can go; I’m sure registration is closed by now. I would send you the link if I knew, but all they’ve emailed me concerning the event are PDFs of maps and schedules and my parking permit.

Oh, here is the first email I received!

Congratulations on being admitted to the College of Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. Your exceptional academic achievements place you among a select group of students invited to attend an upcoming, exclusive event.

Engineering Scholar’s Day
Saturday, April 6, 2013
8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. Register at:
[Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering Scholar’s Day](http://www.csupomona.edu/~engineering/events/engrscholars/index.html)

We hope that you will attend Engineering Scholar’s Day, including the Women in Engineering Reception, a collaboration between Cal Poly Pomona Women in Engineering (CPP WE) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). At the Women in Engineering Reception you will see what makes our programs so distinct and learn about unique opportunities for women in engineering. You will meet some of our outstanding female faculty and students, see an impressive display of female students’ engineering projects, and hear from successful alumnae who are currently working as engineers and making positive contributions to society. A complimentary lunch will be included.

At this event, there will be opportunities to:
• Attend a Briefing Session about the College and learn about resources we have including the Maximizing Engineering Potential Program (MEP) and Cal Poly Pomona Women in Engineering (CPP WE).
· Participate in Lab Tours to learn more about your major.
· Take a guided walking tour of Cal Poly Pomona and see our Engineering Neighborhood.
• Participate in our Women in Engineering Reception, which will be held from 12 Noon - 2 p.m.

We also invite you to explore our CPP WE website for more information about the resources we have in place for our female students: [College of Engineering: Cal Poly Pomona Women in Engineering](http://www.csupomona.edu/~engineering/cppwe/)

We look forward to welcoming you to the Cal Poly Pomona Engineering family!

*All admissions so far are provisional. Please follow admission requirements and meet all deadlines.

Oh I see. Tell me how it goes tomorrow! :D

Sure! I’ll let you know what they talk about at the SWE reception too! hopefully I get to see those dorms you were talking about!

Oh I didn’t receive one of those emails. :[

It’s okay! I’ll probably write everything they tell me down since I’m crazy forgetful, so I’ll let you know everything that happened! I’m just a little nervous for some weird reason and I wanted to see if anyone else was haha

lol. hey did u decide on whether you would get a double or triple room? Or 10meal/14meal/19meal plan? I’m just curious whether I made a good decision on choosing the 10meal plan. I live in Los Angeles so I was thinking I’d be able to go home on the weekends and eat. I hear the campus is dead on the weekends.

Oh I got the 10 Meal too! I live like half an hour away from campus (which is why I’m kinda confused on why the first year housing requirement applies to me) so I can definitely go home and eat on the weekends. My mom is also one of those super worried moms so she said she’d send me back to school with food to put in my mini fridge haha.

lol ur mom is so kewl. And couldn’t you apply to be exempt from housing at CPP?

Yup! But I was going to board anyway because my mom may be moving once I’m in college. It’s just me and her so she’s thinking of going back to LA (our hometown). She wanted me to dorm either way—experience and whatnot haha

Isn’t Chino Hills a nice place than L.A.? :o

Well, since LA was my hometown, I’ll always like it a billion times more, but yes, Chino Hills can be nicer than LA in SOME ways. Mostly just cleanliness. There’s nothing to do here and it’s just the same thing everyday.

Life is what you make it. Despite the fact that I’m in L.A., I’m practially always in my house. I guess because I don’t drive yet. lol. Have you gotten your license? Will you be taking your car with you to CPP?

Yup, I’ve had my license for a year and half now! I don’t have a car (I use my mom’s) but we’re actually looking for a cheap secondhand car for me. If we do, I’ll be taking it with me!

Oh sweet  I bet your car insurance is cheaper now that you have your license for a year and a half. I’ve yet to learn. Maybe after my calc ap test.

Actually, it’s the exact opposite. I got a speeding ticket just three months after I got my license LOL. That’s probably a good idea! You’ll be able to take your lessons and such without having to worry about your tests or anything :)

If I havent been accepted yet for ME, and since the engineering day is tomoro does that mean I will be rejected :(?

Im still waiting for a response from them …

No, I doubt that it means you’re rejected! So many other people are still waiting so don’t be discouraged! If anything, just email or call to inquire about how long they’re taking!
