Engineering degree plus Econ/Business Minor

Any of you look into this?

How many years would this take me in addition - just one most likely?

i was interested in getting some type of econ/accounting minor in addition to my CSE major but then i stopped looking into it when reality hit.

most of the classes don't overlap and i can't afford to stay an additional year with OOS tuition fees. it's really rare to meet an engineer with some type of minor... i've only met one.

just giving my personal feedback - don't have any specific answers. flopsy to the rescue

im interested in this question as well..

Yeah, I guess we don't have a bizecon minor. I was hoping for at least an entrepeneurship one. I may try and do Human Complex Systems or Cognitive Sci. Two classes can overlap, but only for GE. So i'd have 5 additional classes. In any case, I have grad school to handle things.

well the thing is an accounting minor has like at least 7-8 classes you would not take as an engineer normally, some of which must be taken in sequence.

it would probably only add one year.

I think Engineering+Management is more useful. Some schools offer that, but UCLA doesn't.

yeah i think what Boelter Hall mentioned is what i'm looking for. But if not here, MBA ftw.

maybe get an engineering degree and then later (if you still want to), go back and get a degree in business. I dont think its possible you could get an engineering degree and a business minor (of some sort) in four years (unless you're far ahead).

I know that UCLA offers joint programs, such as simultaneously getting an mba and masters in computer engineering in an additional three years after the bachelors.

There is no Economics or Business minor. It would take you at least an extra year to satisfy a minor alongside an engineering curriculum, unless you come in with plenty of APs.

2 quarters I believe if I wanted to do another minor (at this point, given I finish eveyrthing else on time), I currently have junior standing going into 2nd year. Slightly ahead, but not by much.

Would you say that what Deuces is suggesting is easier/harder than engineering w/ premed?

Well, with premed. In my case, I'd have to take 1 more quarter of ochem, 1 more quarter of ochem lab, along with one more quarter of english. I think they can let us finish in 4 years (if you're bioengineering like I am). There's a specific curriculum plan tailored toward it. It's really down to what you truly like learning, and I'm interested in the business side of things - I read plenty of social analysis books Blink, Tipping Point, Wisdom of Crowds, Freakonomics, etc. And I enjoy that stuff. Do it because you like it Peppers, although... ease may factor in why I'm not considering pre-med as much nowadays.
