Engineering Design

Okay, so i was doing some research on majors and came across Engineering Design here:

<a href="http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/majors/majorBasics.asp?majorID=94%5B/url%5D">http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/majors/majorBasics.asp?majorID=94</a></p>

It is essentially a perfect match for what i want to do in college, and a much more specfic fit than Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design majors i have been looking into. The problem is I can't find any colleges that offer Engineering Design.

What schools offer Engineering Design or something like it?
what other majors should I look into that are like Engineering Design?

Be careful with majoring in a major that nobody's heard of... It might present a problem with employers not really knowing what you're capable of doing, when it comes time to find a job. A lot of people I know had some trouble with their degrees in the relatively new field of architectural engineering.

What I suggest doing is checking out the sorts of jobs that you'd like to have eventually, and see what sorts of paths the people currently working in those jobs took.

If you can find an engineering design program that fits well, more power to you, just be aware of the potential problems.

That being said... take a look at Harvey Mudd. Their engineering program is pretty innovative, and it's well-known in the industry. It's fairly difficult to get into, but their grads are well-trained and get phenomenal jobs. Definitely worth a look.

it's probably a major that few small schools have to attract students. i dont understand how design can be a major itself. if you dont have the right knowledge, how are you going to design?
