Engineering Direct Admission

Has anyone who applied for fall '09 been accepted into direct admission from UCSC's School of Engineering? If so, what was your GPA and SAT? Thanks.

Also, if I apply for direct admission and get rejected by the college but get accepted by UCSC will I ever be able to apply for school of engineering during my stay in UCSC? Thanks.

I was accepted to UCSC’s Engineering my SAT was 690 Math 560 Reading and 490 Writting. my GPA is 4.13 W and 3.83 UW

My son was accepted directly into EE with these stats…3.3 uc gpa, 1800 SAT/680 math and sat math II 620. So if you have a half way decent gpa and sat scores it shouldn’t be hard to get in. Engineering is not impacted at UCSC. Plus they only have around 800 students in the whole engineering school.

We toured the engineering school 2 weeks ago. The labs looked very new and impressive (esp. their new bioeng program), however my husband (USC EE alum) commented that the school seemed a little “half baked” without offering mechanical/civil eng. My son decided he wanted to go with something a little more “hands on” and decided mechE was more to his liking, so he will be attending Cal Poly.

I got accepted as Undeclared Engineering / Computing, with the intent of majoring in Computer Engineering.

GPA: 3.6 UC
SAT: CR: 620, M: 640, W: 660
SATII: Math II: 680, Spanish with Listening: 630

I was accepted for CS: Game Design with a
3.9 W GPA
SAT: CR:710 M:670 W:660
SAT II Math: I don’t recall, but in the 620-650 range

Also, to rxcat. When I was there they explained that they don’t have mechanical/civil engineering because they’re considered static. Meaning set in stone. They are not exploratory (could be wrong, this is merely what they said). UCSC focuses a lot more on “future” technologies such as bioengineering.

Accepted into Computer Engineering with a 3.78 GPA and 1700 SAT, but will also be attending Cal Poly SLO.

well also, ucsc’s engineering program is really quite new…

bioengineering was just starting to be offered in fall of 08 as a major…
