& more stuff I'm likely forgetting

I feel that my essay is strong and my recommendations are sincere. I'll try to chance back, although obviously I'm probably not the best person to give a chance. :B Just got my ACT score, pretty disappointed with the 28 on reading, but ah well.

28 on reading??? you’re going to be an engineer, so don’t worry. I think you have a strong ED chance if your essays are strong. YOu have a similar profile to my son and he was admitted ED last year. By the way, he LOVES it!

Your stats will get you in the conversation. It will come down to letters of rec & essays. COE has one of the lowest admission rates, especially for males.

Yeah, I believe for males the admission rate was about 17 percent for males going into engineering. I’m not really going to compromise what I want to do, however, in order to have a better shot at Cornell. :P

GPA, class rank, course rigor are definitely great. SAT/ACT wont stand out at cornell.I believe the 75th percentile is 34 ACT and ~1500 SAT. Ec’s are decent. You definitely have a shot. like csdad said, it’ll come down to essays and recs

Your SATs, particularly your math scores relative to CU engineering, are quite low for Cornell Engineering. As a white male with no exceptional ECs you have a particularly low chance for engineering so I wouldn’t count on getting in.

I mean my math II score is a bit low, but other then that I don’t think my ACT or SAT math scores are exceptionally low for engineering. My english teacher gave me high praise for my common app essay (although I do have to trim it down a bit to fit 500 words), so I’m pretty confident in that. I’m working on the supplement now. How important is this compared to the common app essay?

Also, a question slightly related: If I come from a family with a salary of about $150,000 annually with 2 other kids in college, what kind of financial aid should I be expecting to see? My parents said they would help with whatever I got, but I’m starting to feel a little bad if I get no financial aid.
