Engineering first semester?

CHEM 2090
ENGL 1105 (FWS)
ENGRI 1120
MATH 1910
PE 1465

Thoughts? I've heard nightmare stories about Chem 2090 so I'm thinking of maybe switching out of it for PHYS 1112 and and taking it second semester instead. I only have to take one FWS and I can credit out of PHYS 1112 but I don't think I would like to.

The teacher for PHYS 1112 in the fall is fantastic, so i would suggest you take CHEM 2090 in the spring instead.

If you have credit for Phys 1112, then take it. Unless you forgot absolutely everything from mechanics, there’s no need to retake it. Intro engineering classes at Cornell are almost never “fun”, even if you the professor is great.

If you don’t want to take Chem 2090 right now, then just add in another fun major-required class (for example, a liberal studies course) to replace Phys 1112. Just my two cents.

To be honest, I would not suggest taking ENGRI 1120: Intro to chemE. It’s the hardest intro engineering class by far. I would take an easier ENGRI course as none of of the engineering majors require a specific ENGRI for affiliation.

Assuming crane is still teaching CHEM 2090 in the fall, I would just stay in. I had him for it and from what I’ve gathered it was a lot better than the alternative.
