Are Columbia and Princeton bad for science engineering majors???

Or is it just a rumor?

In fact, I was surprised to see the acceptance rate for Columbia engineering school (SEAS).

The acceptance rate for Columbia college was about 11& and for SEAS it was 45%... Does that mean that Columbia is not a very good school for engineering??

Are duke or princeton certainly better than Columbia for engineering or science majors??

Duke is better...not Princeton

Princeton is slightly inferior to Cornell
and Columbia cant compare to either

the acceptance rate for Fu Engineering at Columbia is high because it reflects the competition for admission there. Not as many engineering students apply because the most qualified candidates apply to schools like MIT, CM, Berkley, Stanford, JHU

The acceptance rate of a school is not the only factor that determines how good it is for a certain subject...

Take Cornell engineering for example... Cornell is one of the top engineering schools in the nation (along with UCB, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, etc.). The engineering school's acceptance rate is usually over 40%, but the middle 50% SAT range was 1380-1550 for the class of 2009, which is very close to HYP middle 50% SATs.

To answer your questions, both Duke/Pton are better than Columbia for engineering. But if you're looking at those schools and you want to be an engineer, you're better off looking at the schools I have previously mentioned.
