My name is Mike, I have a B.Ed degree in English. Ever since my graduation, I have been working in the construction industry (over 5years). I started as a Planning and Scheduling Trainee (2years before I was promoted to the post of a Junior Planner) where I gathered experience in the planning and scheduling of construction works, MEP works specifically and also the professional use of Primavera software.

I plan to apply for a PSP certification but I was told my degree is not industry-related (construction). I plan to get an industry related degree/diploma or anything to fill this gap. I need your advice and suggestion on this.

You should check to see if 8 years of professional experience (since you have over 5) is all that’s required. That may be a more cost effective option. Otherwise, look for cost effective solutions that can work with your schedule. What schools are local, or perhaps an online program. It doesn’t seem like an engineering degree is required and that the “relevant degree” requirement is fairly flexible. Then again, a degree in construction could also help your career in ways other than the PSP certification.
