Hi I am an out of state frosh applying to Madison and wondering what you think my chances are. My stats are as follows:

GPA: UW 3.6 W 3.9
ACT:30
All honors classes since freshman year 1 AP junior year US History. 3 AP senior year Calculus AB, Econ, Enviormental Science

Lots of EC. Captain of Varsity hockey team.

Top 20% of competitive high school. Good essays and teacher recs.
Applying to engineering. Don't know if that makes admission harder?

Any input would be great. Thanks!

Check out this link; using a 3.6 GPA and 30 ACT, you have a 90% chance of being admitted to UW-Madison - of course, this is just a 'guideline'.

I don't believe it is any harder to get accepted if you declare engineering as your major.

Good luck!

Excellent chance, as above. Remember that you apply to the university as a whole, not a particular school or college- your intended major doesn't matter, either. The advantage in knowing your major comes in planning your freshman year courses during summer orientation.

Thanks for the replies!
