I just heard about the EGL program, and wanted to know more about it. Is anyone here participating in it? How hard is it to get accepted (given that you have the minimum 3.6+ gpa)? What's part of the application process? How time consuming is the program? Does it look good on your transcript? Please tell me all you know about it!

I think it’s guaranteed if you have a 3.6, or atleast almost guaranteed. Either way, I don’t think you even apply until your junior year (or until you have junior standing).

I think I saw bearcats mention once that he was in it.

The average starting salaries ( [Michigan Engineering | Placement Statistics](http://www.engin.umich.edu/egl/careers/) - overall about 70K) are much higher than the average (overall average is about 61K), but I feel that a lot of that is due to the fact that they all have a 3.6 or above, where as the average for Engineering is a 2.9.

^ Thanks for the info. It must be somewhat competitive since they require 2 letters of recs and an essay (just found the app online), and since you get to take classes at Ross without having to apply there.

^ Apparently he hates me and doesn’t want to share his info. I doubt a PM would help, but I guess it’s worth a shot since he DID say “anyone” :)

^ Oh, cool beans. I met with an alumnus from my high school that’s a part of the program, and he made it sound really interesting. Unfortunately this was during tech day where we were under time constraints, so I couldn’t ask many questions.
