Engineering Governor's School??

I was recently accepted to the Lehigh Governor’s School for Engineering and Technology, but now am worried as to whether or not I made the right choice to participate.

I am not actually interested in engineering and technology in themselves, but really just wanted to find an opportunity for some research this summer before my senior year, as I haven’t had any yet and hope to major in chemistry (with a double major in journalism/English). I’ve heard that it’s a really great, and pretty exclusive, program and school, and the opportunity to work with a team on a project like the ones they’ve had in the past just seems awesome. The school also has a really good science journalism program, and I thought that the program might increase my chances of getting in.

HOWEVER. . .

Scheduling conflicts look like it’s going to make me miss summer camp counseling, which I really love and helps me to demonstrate a consistent interest (I worked with the same camp last year and worked with other camps for many years before). I really haven’t been able to bear the thought on missing out on working with the kids there, even if it’s just for one season.

Also, I had hoped to take a community college physics class (which may or may not work out anyway) since I haven’t done HS physics yet, but won’t be able to if I go to Lehigh. Then, I’ll have to take Honors Physics next year instead of AP Bio, leaving me with no AP science, only physics and honors o chem. I will probably have AP Lit and AP Gov though.

I’m so lost and afraid to take any action on this- help?

BTW - On the SAT, I got 660 Math, 780 CR, and 800 Writing (plan to retake to boost the math score- it’s usually my highest section!). I also took the ACT and got a 33 composite (35 writing, 31 math, 31 science, 24 reading) - That seems like just standard info to give

Thanks in advance for the help!
