Hi I'm a junior in High School right now and I'm planning on pursuing Engineering in the future. I'm not sure which major yet but I love doing anything involving math. I was just wondering what kind of school i should/could apply to with my GPA/SAT etc. I'v taken a ton of AP's and my GPA is a 4.3. But my SAT could use a little work because its only a 1550, but ill work on it.

AP's
Calc AB: B
Calc BC: B
Physics B/Lab (Next Year)
AP Stats (Next Year)
AP English Language: A
AP U.S History: B
AP English Lit. (Next Year)
AP Euro ( Next Year)
AP Human Geo: B

All of my Honors classes are A's or B's. What kind of colleges do you think i should apply to next year when I'm a senior. I live in NC so I'm gonna apply to NC State and UNCC, but I'm gonna apply to NC State as a undecided major just to increase my chances. So what engineering schools should I apply to? Do you think i should apply as a undecided to help my chances of getting in, then deciding on my major in college? They can be out of state I just want to narrow my options. East coast though... don't wanna go to far from home. Thanks for any help in advance.

Be careful applying undecided. Many colleges won’t let you internally transfer to competitive programs (i.e. engineering, pharmacy, etc.) if you start out as undecided.

If northeast is an option for you, I would look at WPI. If I remember correctly, they are test score optional, meaning you can send in a project or something you worked on that shows your college readiness rather than a SAT/ACT score. They are a pretty solid engineering school.

Look at the “flex path” section here: http://www.wpi.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply/requirements.html

average unweighted GPA at WPI is 3.8. Still worth considering. Consider Clarkson, RIT, Syracuse also. But if you don’t improve your test scores, WPI is the only engineering school that is test optional.

You should look at the other [Association of Independent Technological Universities: AITU](http://www.theaitu.org) schools. A number of them are close enough for your needs.

Check the rules on changing major at each campus. For example, NCSU’s rules are here: [REG 02.65.03 - Intracampus Transfers | Policies, Regulations and Rules: NC State University](REG 02.65.03 – Intracampus Transfers – Policies, Regulations & Rules)

Of the other NC publics, NC A&T also has several engineering majors. Western Carolina has electrical engineering only, East Carolina has engineering science only, and UNC Asheville has engineering mechatronics only. Some others have computer science only.

Very important: talk to your parents about what they are willing to contribute, and to get basic financial information to put in each college’s net price calculator to get financial aid estimates before finalizing your application list.
