Engineering Honors Program and University Honors Program

I'm a current first year engineering student and I didn't get into the Engineering Honors Program nor the University Honors Program. Is there any way that I can get into either or even both programs during my first year at Purdue (using my freshman grades/ gpa)?

Thanks!

Yeah. After first semester if you get a really good GPA they’ll let you into the Engineering Honors program. I’m not exactly sure what the GPA is though however.

I believe it’s a 3.5 to get in.

If you’re very serious about doing the engineering honors program, think about doing the following your first semeste:

 • Take MA 173 (honors Calc II) or MA 182 (honors Calc III)
 • Take/test out of CHM 123

These classes are classified as honor classes. You’ll get honor points for these even if you’re not an honor student your first semester. And also worst case scenario, you end up not being in the honors program, at least you’ll still have credit for Calc II/III and General Chem I

I know that the Engineering Honors Program is being restructured so I don’t know how accurate this information is.

This was the case when I was a freshman (3 years ago). So I would check with my advisor, because as rkd mentioned, the information I provided might not be accurate anymore

icecube100,hope you dont mind me posting this question here, but what are the requirements to get into the honors program as a freshman? whats the average SAT score?

There is no set standards but they are around the Pres. and Trustee Scholarship levels

and whats the average for the pres and trustee scholarship? can internationals apply for it?

There is no application they are awarded [Purdue University - Merit_Scholarships](http://www.purdue.edu/Admissions/Undergrad/costs/merit_scholarships.html)
