Engineering Honors program

To be accepted into UT Engineering Honors program what type of credentials must I have? Since I am a transfers student with 70 plus hours does SAT/ ACT even count in the decision?

i dont know for sure, but i know you have to have at least a 1450+ to get into engineering honors out of high school. contact someone from the honors program for more specific information on transfer students.

^ I don't think that's true, 1450 is around the average for the program...and obviously not everyone's above average

1500 SAT is automatic acceptance into the honors program and when transferring SAT/ACT means nothing, they count your GPA and things you did in college. at UT you cannot apply for engineering honors, i believe that you have to be invited in if you are already at the university. i transfered into engineering during my freshman orientation and asked my adviser how to get into honors and she said that if there is room, they might invite me but there is no application.

Longhorn2007...the "1500 rule" is news to me. Do you know what the rationale is for the COE to offer a scholarship to anyone admitted into the EHP?

That I have no idea about, all I know is that you have to apply for all scholarships. There is a scholarship link on the engineering website and that’s the best source for any additional info. I learned about the 1500 rule when I was talking to the Dean, Dr. Streetman, and he said that he once had a parent complain that their kid hadn’t gotten into the honors program and the dean asked what the test scores were; they were 1500 so he made a rule/exception, saying that if u have a 1500 or above then you are automatic in. the only think I don’t know is whether you have to speak to him about it or whether it is a straight rule acknowledged by the rest of the college.
