Engineering Honors Program

My son got invitaed to participate in the ENineering honors program. Does anyone know much abouat this aside from what's on the web site? Is this pretty common?

I want to know more about this too! What exactly do people in the Honors Program do? Does it go on your diploma?

If you go deeper into their site, there is a lot of useful information. I was going to turn it down, because I don’t need the added stress of Honors. But then I looked into it, and it definitely seems worth it. It is just one one-hour lecture a week, one semester for every year you are a part of the program (if you join now, 4 semesters. if you join senior year, one semester, etc.). It is a one credit class, pass or fail, not letter grade. I asked my host from Explore about it and he said it would be stupid NOT to take it. Also, it doesn’t really require any work, it is really interesting, and I believe it goes on your diploma. If you take it, I’ll see you there, every week (because you are only allowed to miss three days!).

For more info, read everything on this page: [USC - Viterbi School of Engineering - EHP Policies](http://viterbi.usc.edu/students/undergrad/honors/policies.htm)

I agree, it doesn’t seem like too much extra, but it sounds really cool and helpful. I think it comes with additional personalized advising as well, which can never hurt. If you’re invited, you should definitely take it, and I’ll see you there as well

It is not really any extra work, and besides, you can always drop the program with no consequences (other than the usual rules for dropping the colloquium class)

It is nice to get to know your fellow honors students. Plus, you get a free weekend retreat somewhere with all the other honors students before the semester starts.

There is more stuff coming to the honors program also, but I can’t reveal yet :)
