Engineering Honors?

I've been hearing kids talk about going into the engineering honors program, but all I can find information on is the LSA honors program and an engineering honors program for upperclassman. I know its too late to apply but since I know Michigan is where I'll be going I'm interested. Is there an engineering honors program for freshman?

there’s EGL

Right EGL I believe you apply to sophomore or junior year (which hopefully I will do). I suppose you can take dual major or minor in LSA and take classes in both engineering and LSA and be considered an engineering honors student. I didn’t want to dual major or minor so was just confused that they only had a honors program for LSA students.

EGL is for people who want a diversified education. It requires you to take a ton of language, culture, and business classes. There really is no engineering honors program. What you can do is take honors LSA courses such as honors physics and calculus.

and I highly need there’s a need for honors in COE anyway. Most engineering classes are a lot harder than honors classes already and the caliber of students, especially in terms of quantitative abilities is in generally just as good if not better than honors, all else being equal (same gpa, interview skills, and everything), an COE grad would most likely be more highly recruited than an honors grad. Michigan COE is highly respected, you dont need an honors degree to give you an extra boost

I’ve never heard of an Honors Program for Engineering at Michigan … only LSA Honors, but then again I could very well be wrong. The closest thing is EGL … [Michigan Engineering | Honors Programs](http://www.engin.umich.edu/students/academics/honors.html).

I hope this helps!
