Engineering Honors?

Hi, everyone.
I have a quick question.
Does the Cockrell Engineering College mean that anyone who wants to pursue one of some selected engineering degrees has to be admitted to it.
I'm wondering...

You can major in any field of engineering without being accepted to the honors program.

I don’t think so, you can get accepted to UT Austin, and still not get into the college of your choice. I think they make you pick 2 colleges. Hopefully, someone else will also respond

“All students who wish to major in engineering must be admitted to the University according to the procedures given in General Information. However, enrollment in any engineering degree plan may be limited by the availability of adequate academic resources. Hence, a student may be admitted to the University but denied admission to a specific engineering degree plan. An applicant who is denied admission to an engineering degree plan may seek to enter another major in the Cockrell School of Engineering or in another college or school.”

Ya, it looks like it.

[Cockrell School of Engineering Admission and Registration](http://registrar.utexas.edu/catalogs/ug08-10/ch07/ug08.ch07a.html#admission-and-registration)

You must be in Cockrell to major in engineering. Also, if you don’t get into it push for a 4.0 in your general ed courses your first semester if you plan to transfer. Transferring in is supposed to be very difficult (high requirements than coming in as a freshman).
