engineering house or cs house?

My son will be a freshman in the fall studying software engineering as part of the engineering school. Which house would best be suited for this major? Any advice greatly appreciated...

Is there a way he could visit both houses, maybe on an accepted students day, and see which one he likes better? You could also ask the students in the two houses what their majors are. You might find that there are students with his major in both of those houses.

The CSH is definitely more well known, but the Engineering House kids all seem proud of their organization. I believe both houses have software engineers.

Which is best suited for his major? CSH. But, in my opinion, personality and lifestyle matter more for this decision and he is probably best off speaking to members of both houses personally to see which feels right. The good news is that I doubt your son would regret joining either group.

Software engineering is much closer to Computer Science than engineering in terms of academic program. But what really matters when it comes to houses is the lifestyle and the people. If he comes to the Accepted open house, he will get a chance to meet people from all the houses.

Did anyone here actually go to RIT during the Accepted Open House and look at the dorms?
