Engineering Internship Interview Follow up?

I had an interview for a mechanical engineering internship today over the phone that lasted about 20 minuets. Should I e-mail her to thank her for the interview?

Absolutely! Always send a thank you after an interview.

It is only more recently that I am doing active recruiting of young graduates. More often than not, I never receive an email from an applicant. It is always noted when I do get an email to thank me for my time, and it is even more remarkable when they remember what we talked about. With the younger generation, maybe it is not that big of a deal to send a thank-you note or email, but most people who interview you are the people who may care. I just recently received a hand written thank-you note after she visited our office for a day.

You may want also use Linkedin to see if there are any alumni working at the company you are interested in and email them to get additional information. More often than not, such email would be forwarded to your hiring manager and it would be a great way to show interest.

Thanks alot, both of you!

Great thread. Thank you so much for this
