Engineering Internship Summer Before College?

I am a rising senior in high school taking dual credit classes so I will start as a Sophomore at college. My neighbor is a high up Civil Engineer and I met up with him the other day for about two hours to talk about Civil Engineering and what it is like in the actual workforce. It was very insightful and he really liked me. He told me to reach out to him for internship opportunities, but I am not sure when he is talking about? Can a just graduated high school student do internships and if so what would I do besides fetch coffee?

What time frame do engineering undergrads start interning. I will have Calc 1 under my belt if that makes any difference

My husband’s engineering firm hires interns every summer. BUT they are usually students who have completed their junior year in college.

Why don’t you ask your neighbor? See if there are any gopher jobs available in the summers at his firm…you probably aren’t gong to be doing engineering work as a HS grad, by the firm might need a summer person to do some other kind of work.
