Engineering Jobs That Pay Over $115,000 (Not Petroleum)

Engineers with top level security clearances working on defense and intelligence programs can make this amount and more.

If you go into engineering for the money, the $115K would be a reasonable amount of money you’ll need to save to open a franchise fast food or service business and get out of engineering at some point. In other words, don’t go into engineering for the money.

OK; here’s something about engineering pay scales in a midwestern-fly-over-state public electric utility. it shows jobs and pay. most of the higher paying jobs are nuclear engineers . . . http://www.dataomaha.com/salaries/2014/oppd

I know an IOE graduate getting that level of income after a couple year and changed 3 jobs. Now he is in Texas.

$500k/per year, 3 years out of college. Junior partner at a hot SV venture capitalist firm. Major Industrial Engineering, GPA > than 3.95.

@DrGoogle If I may ask, is that your personal story? I wasn’t sure if you meant you or someone you knew.

A roommate of my daughter at USC. I’m a lot older than 3 years out of college. I’m old enough that I’m ready to retire.

That’s typically how much starting engineers make with PhD at high-tech companies.
