I've never been any good at SATs or standardized exams and I thought I'd start studying early for the GREs. I'm thinking about devoting two hours or a little more each weekend to study from books or online sources.

I need at least 700Q score and 500V score for the GRE. Any recommendations on books, online sources or how many hours a week I should devote to studying the GRE. What sort of tips or tricks should I know?

Thank you so much.

I thought the Barron’s 800 high frequency word list book was very good. I saw a lot of words on the GRE that were in that book. Don’t blow your brains out studying for the GRE IMO. If you can graduate from an engineering program with decent grades then you shouldn’t have to study much for the math. I’d just do the Barron’s workbook, do some practice problems/exams for the quant, and one or two practice essays. You could be done in 2 weeks if you studied 3 hours a day. For me, learning the roots of words, etc. was just a complete waste of time. The best way was to simply straight up memorize words by brute force.
