Engineering likely letter

i would say recipients of that email have 1.75 feet in the door at UCLA. congrats.

Can some more of you that received the letter please confirm the time - I think I see 2 that said 7 pm and 7.59 PT (??) - so possibly letters still going out? Thanks

shoresmom: I got mine at exactly 6:58 PM PST

I just received mine at 8:29 PM PST. It’s rather odd that they would send these emails out on a saturday night-- pretty much every other email I had received from UCLA had come out during business hours monday-friday. I wouldn’t fret if you didn’t receive your email yet, as it looks like the emails are slowly trickling out.

Decisions tend to come out Friday or Saturday. (The Ivies and Berkeley are being weird this year, releasing on the 29th, a Thursday.)

And yes, 7:00 PM PST.

Rush10, lolowut, energize - thanks and congrats!

I hope your right energize!!!

I got it too. And dammit people, use your brains. If they are inviting us to an event for admitted students that will take place AFTER admission decisions are released, doesn’t it make sense that we’re in? Use a little deductive reasoning. You’re smart enough to get into engineering at UCLA, after all.

My son got it too at 8.57 pm PT
Sat 2260
Sat 2 math 800 chem 720 hist 770
GPA 3.98 WGPA 4.58
applied for biomed engg

Do any of your letters actually make a reference to the major you applied for?

Oops, forgot stats
GPA: 3.95
SAT: 2320
SAT II: USH 780 Math II 780 Chem 780
Major: Comp Sci

shoresmom: congrats to your son, and mine definitely did not.

Everyone who’s posted has had extremely strong stats. I hope that’s a good indication that we’re in.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/876152-ucla-likely-letter.html

This might be useful. Looks like it means we have a 99% chance of getting in.

Yup, everyone here, atleast, has strong stats. Plus, wouldn’t it be odd that were invited but not accepted.

Didn’t get it :(

@Ascaris

You didn’t get it yet. You don’t know that it isn’t on it’s way!

Don’t give up hope. Also, don’t give up if you don’t get the letter. There are tons of people who are admitted who don’t receive the letter.

Nothing is final until you see your decision posted online!

Holy crap I just got the email. I nearly ****ed myself.

@ascaris & @basene - the last 3 posts ^^ are really cool to read. from disappointment to elation! very cool. congrats @ascaris!

A lot of campuses will send these emails on weekends, especially if it’s a mail merge and if they are sending out a lot of them, they want to do it when it won’t slow down the campus servers. Not that the campus servers will get choked up by several hundred to a couple thousand emails, but they’ll still send more smoothly during a “dead” time like a Saturday night.

Not to mention, this isn’t a new thing, so just read the thread I linked before if you’re still unsure. (:

…I just noticed I forgot to correct the numbers in my stat post on this thread. Ah well, it’s not off by much anyhow.

:) got one
SAT: 2290, Maths II 800 Chem 780
Undeclared

Does anyone know if it is compulsory? I’m not keen to fork over >$1000 to go over for one weekend and come back since I’m an international
