Engineering Major Personal Statement

In the UC App for selecting majors for Berkeley, when you select an engineering major it states:

"Freshman applicants to the College of Engineering are advised to discuss their interest in their intended major in the personal statement (transfer applicants are required to discuss their interest in their intended major)."

Should we talk about it in personal statement 1, 2, or both? And are there negative ramifications if we do not discuss it?

Thanks!

Definitely in #1. #2 can talk about it if its ONE particular experience. Read the #2 prompt properly. Its asking about ONE experience. So, if you talk about your passion for engineering, the prompt #2 should relate to one experience.
