What are the best schools for engineering I could go to with my stats?
Preferably mechanical, aerospace or chemical engineering programs in the northeast
rank 15/108
gpa 94.31
sat: 1850/2400
(620m, 610 cr, 620w) 1230/1600
I would try Texas A & M, University of Wisconsin, University of Maryland, UCSD. They rank in the us news top 20 engineering schools.
That SAT won’t get him into UCSD and would be extremely expensive.
@“aunt bea”
According to the common dataset he is in the interquartile range for UCSD 1760 to 2110, but yes it would be very expensive.
Also, he asked for northeast. I missed that when I posted.
So maybe U Maryland, VA Tech, Penn State.
WPI, UMass
You already applied, didn’t you? Why are you adding new schools past many of the deadlines?
It’s likely that many application deadlines have passed so investigate meticulously. Also, the concept of “presitige” is quite unimportant as regards your engineering school pedigree. Few professionals believe that Harvard Engineering or Yale Engineering are leaders in the traditional engineering disciplines. I’m confident that engineering graduates of elite universities do well in their careers, but in the northeast alumni of the following schools do quite well themselves;
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Clarkson University
Rochester Institute of Technology
U of Massachusetts-Lowell
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
U of Rochester
Keep in mind that Aerospace Engr. is offered only as a minor at some colleges. In any event, Aerospace Engr. is a subset of Mechanical Engineering. Also, Chemical Engineering is very broad. It can be closely tied to Biochemistry (medical), chemicals, materials or manufacturing processes.
Don’t you live in NJ? Rowan and Stevens are obvious choices. I’m not sure you will be admitted at Stevens but Rowan you should and its quite a good engineering school.
If you don’t Rowan is still an excellent choice.
Use the SuperMatch function to the left (under find a college). There are tons of good choices ranging from small LACs with engineering (ex. Union College, Lafayette College), technical oriented schools (ex. RIT, WPI, Stevens), and large State U’s (ex. Pit, Delaware, Stony Brookt) so it really depends on what you are looking for.
@scarednjdad1 im from new york
Rowan is very reasonable for OOS. I would add Rowan.
Cost constraints?
SUNYs seem to be obvious lower cost choices for NY residents.
Your stats are low for RPI but it’s worth a try - excellent school for engineering.
