<p>Everything is about challenging yourself. Everything. You should push yourself constantly, even after school. If work gets stale go back to school. If your career gets stagnant take a risk. If you find yourself lacking somewhere, do something to fill it.</p>

<p>The old interview question “what is your weakness” brings out some interesting answers. My follow up is always and what are you doing to cover for this? You don’t always need to be fixing it, but you need to compensate. Avoidance gets you nowhere and no points.</p>

<p>If you are afraid of public speaking join Toastmasters. You may never like it, but you should be effective at it.</p>

<p>I’ve had a friend since 8th grade who sounds like you. She got her PhD in history. She’s brilliant, but she hates public speaking. Instead of being a professor as she always wanted, she’s working for a state agency, keeping up their website. It makes me sad! Don’t shortchange yourself!</p>
