Engineering Management

I am currently studying Electrical Engineering at Hofstra University, hoping to transfer to USC hopefully, and graduating there with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I am interested in beocming an engineering manager, and I was wondering whether some CC'ers had some insight on what path I should take after I am finished with undergrad.

After undergrad, should I get a job, gain some experience and then pursue an MBA or should I go straight to graduate school?

And if I do go to graduate school, what exactly should I study? Should I get an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and then get a job, slowly working my way up. OR, should I try and get an M.S. in Engineering Management? I've seen many schools that offer this track. Some very prestigious institutions, such as Stanford, has an Management and Engineering Sciences Graduate degree.

Also, are there any classes in particular that I should be taking now. I was thinking about minoring in Business Management. How do you think that would work.

Please any Engineering Managers out there let me know. Thank you.

If you just want to manage, id go or a degree in Systems engineering and a MBA

Quickest way to engineering management, at least in my experience (8 years in biotech as a chemical engineer, process engineer, and validation engineer) is to get your MS and then your MBA. Getting a management position with an MS is possible right after getting your degree, and then get what ever company you are working for pay for your MBA. I've had several managers and this has been their route.

Me? I'm getting an MBA with only a BS in ChemE (which is like a Masters in EE;) ). However, I don't want to go into engineering management.
