Engineering masters funding

Hi,

I was wondering what engineering masters students typically get offered for their studies/research? One school I was accepted to offered full tuition and $21k for a research assistantship, with a one year contract (renewable pending funding and good standing). Is this typical?

Thanks,

The amount depends on the cost of living where the university is located. 21k in an area with relatively low cost of living is great. In a big city, it might not be as great of a deal. Cost of rent is a huge factor to take into consideration as to whether a stipend is a good amount.

Actually, I believe it’s rather rare to get funding as a masters only student, so congrats. Funding is usually between 20-30k depending on location and size. MIT gives 26k, for example, while Cornell gives 31K.
