I was originally planning on applying to EECS (as a transfer student), but given the competition I’m considering the Engineering Math and Stats major instead and using my Technical Electives in EE or CS. I compared the coursework with EECS and they were pretty similar in the required courses in engineering (16 vs. 20 upper division units in EECS). Since my current college doesn’t offer the lower division engineering courses I need to take, I’ll need a 3rd year to finish my degree, which I’ll use to take as many engineering electives as I can. I figured I could also add the EECS minor as well.
While I do hope to attend graduate school to specialize in either EE or CS, I worry that the degree will not be enough for me to work as an engineer if I decide not to go. I don’t think the degree is ABET accredited either. What are your thoughts of this degree?
