Engineering Merit Scholarship

So, I was surfing around on the Rice website last night and I noticed something that I hadn't before on the merit scholarship page.

Engineering Scholarships
Outstanding applicants to the engineering division
$5,000 to Full tuition
Renewable for four years

I hadn't noticed the "Full tuition" part of this merit scholarship when I was looking at this page earlier.

Anyone know anything more about this, or has anyone received this award? I'm mostly just looking for some info.

sorry...i wasnt even aware.

me neither...

From what I know of it, it is simply just what it says. It is a very subjective award. Basically, when they feel they have gotten an application that is just extraordinary in engineering they will throw money at them to try to convince them to come to Rice. How much money just depends on how badly they want that applicant. It is a fairly rare thing.
