Engineering + Music?

Hey guys.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with my college search. I really want to go into some form of engineering with an attachment into the music field, something along the lines of audio engineering, acoustical engineering - that sorta stuff. I was planning on starting with a mechanical engineering major or maybe an electrical engineering major - possibly even both - with a minor in music, or recording arts or something related to music. Anyone have suggestions as to majors to look for or schools to look into?

USC.

music recording/engineering was one of the big reasons why i'm at USC right now. the music school is ace, as well as the engineering school...and in the music school, music recording is a significant part of the music industry department (i'm trying to minor in it). that and the guy who invented THX (Tom Holman, the "TH" part of "THX") does his research here. i'm also doing EE...one of the large research labs in the engineering school, the Integrated Media Systems Center, falls greatly under EE....within EE there's actually a concentration in Integrated Media Systems. you can see what they do here:

they're working on 10.2 surround sound and the upmix technologies to support it. it's immensely interesting.

Johns Hopkins has dual-degree engineering/music programs with their Peabody Institute of Music.

thanks guys! that helped quite a bit.

would you guys suggest to university of miami to me? or are there better ones out there.
