Engineering or College or Arts and Sciences

hey guyz I was wondering which college to apply to. I want to ED Upenn but im having trouble deciding. I'm "hopefully" going to med school after undergraduate and both of the colleges offers classes that are fit for pre-med students. Please give advice and personal experience!

general questions(generic)
-Which one is easier to get into(based on scores and stuff)?
-Which on has an easier workload?

here's my info

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735682-chance.html#post1062798208%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735682-chance.html#post1062798208</a></p>

thank you!!

SEAS has less competition for each seat. If you are a very competitive candidate for both, there is just less competition for SEAS and your chances of getting in are better. The work at SEAS is a lot more than SAS (it is engineering). The only comparable SAS majors are like Chem, Physics, and Math.

seas is easier to get in. and internal transfer to college is only 3.0gpa so you can apply seas and do bioengineering for your premed. Take the freshman courses and hopefully switch into CAS if you like the pure sciences more. but seas is harder courseload though.

Thank you so much for the reply. I always thought that CAS was easier to get into than SEAS. Do anyone know the specific statistics? I only know Wharton which is like 10% i think? again, Thank you for any reply =)

SEAS is easier. 18% vs. 11% for CAS i think.

CAS is about 15.5%, Engineering is about 17.5%, from what I’ve heard. It’s not a huge difference but engineering is ultimately easier.
Wharton is about 10% and the dual degree programs are even lower.

CAS RD this year was 13% according to an email I got from the Dean when I got in. Dont know about SEAS but general consensus is that it’s a higher acceptance, but probably not by much.

thanks for the replys guys!!

Isn’t it technically “harder” for SEAS though cuz the applicants are more similar in their interests and stuff?
here’s my stats again
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735682-chance.html#post1062798208</a>
based on my stats, which one would fit more for me?
AND
Im thinking of ED Upenn so if anyone has the statistics for ED I would LOVE them =)

AGAIN…thank you to everyone who took the time to reply

i looked at your chance thread. i am from montgomery county too. let me guess, either blair, richard montgomery or poolesville hs?

scores are good enough for SEAS. If ED, then you are in. If RD, then it might be 50/50. Reason is…you’re ECs are very typical, maybe even stereotypical. I know so many kids in Montgomery county who pretty much do what you do.

haha yuppp
my EC’s are boring but I actually enjoy most of them and I know some really smart ppl tat got in everywhere from them =)
another question…does it hurt to ED dual programs and then put SEAS as ur second option? or does the admission officers want to see the dedication to one specific college?
again…ty for replys =)
