Engineering or international relations major?

Hi im 18 yrs. old and in H.S. I am going to be truly honest about what i like. I overall know that i want to go to law school someday, a top law school. The problem is that i do not know what to major in. My mind tells me engineering because it could allow me to enter patent law which is a great field but i know i would have to give up a lot of my college life. On the other side my heart tells me to do international relations and economics. The thing is i dont know how marketable an international business major/ economics major is.

Overall i speak 4 languages and i love to travel all over the world. I dont know if maybe im being to much of a dreamer but what major do you recommend?

Go with International relations.

I’d agree with greenvision. If you don’t have the heart for sciences and engineering, then probably not a great idea.

Definitely do IR/Econ. College is definitely a time to do things you’re interested in, not things you have to do. I just finished my first year of college and it was amazing because I took courses in which I was intersted and of course the parties and social life. I’m an engineering major, so i love math and science courses! But I still have time for fun. And I have plenty of engineering friends who dispell the myth that if you’re an engineering major, you have to give up a social life. It’s not always true. However if you don’t have the heart for engineering, you won’t make it and your GPA will suffer, hindering your chances of getting into a top law school. Take it as you may, but my advice is stick with whatever major will give you the highest gpa. Plus if you keep a high gpa and get at least average lsat scores, you’ll make it to a law school; it wont be one of the top ones, but it’ll be a law school.
