engineering or undeclared?

My gpa isnt particularly strong...at a 3.78 unweighted and a 4.22 UC gpa.... *got a 3.57 freshmen year...very little B's since. 12 AP classes
My SAT score is 2250. From what ive read from other forums, EECS is really hard to get into predeclared at berkeley but the major i want to do is electrical engineering. Should i apply undeclared or should i predeclare as a EECS major? i feel like i would be rejected if i applied EECS... SAT 2 scores both 750+ on physics and math 2....also i got a 3 on my ap physics exam......some a-holes told me ur ap scores dont matter so i didnt study

Are you thinking about applying Undeclared Engineering? That’s as tough, if not tougher, than EECS…

oh eff…what are my chances right now to get into EECS? i feel like its not very high…ive posted chance threads b4 but i havent specified that i want to major in EECS. basically im president,VP, VP, and treasurer of some clubs. 6th in state for math. 8th in regionals for robotics. regionals swimming…my essay is gonna be on how my mom was almost paralyzed freshmen year which took a lot of time away from studying and doing hw, hence the low gpa freshmen year…i know im kinda spamming this website but im just freaking out

You’re fine. Just apply EECS.

I don’t know if I would go all the way to saying that you are fine because admissions are so crazy. However, you are a definitely a competitive applicant. There are never any sure things in admissions. Just put together your best application and see what happens. Good luck!

im just afraid of getting rejected from EECS cuz i do want to go to berkeley still…whether or not i get into engineering

Oh, I see. Well from what I’ve heard CS is very similar to EECS and it’s easier to get into because you apply to L&S. You could also try majoring in a different engineering major and then switching to EECS.

is it hard to switch?

Yes, they are in different colleges altogether, I’ve heard it can be especially difficult to do so, the only major from which it is easy to change majors to EECS is Engineering Undeclared because they are approximately equally hard to get into.

Actually Undeclared Engineering students are guaranteed admission to any engineering major as long as they maintain a satisfactory GPA. Just an FYI…

I think you were asking if it is hard to switch from one engineering major to another. I don’t think it is as long as you have decent grades. It’s hard to get into the COE from other colleges but once you are in the COE, it is fairly easy to go from one major to another.

For what it’s worth, freshmen grades are not calculated into your GPA.

So applying Undeclared engineering vs eecs doesn’t make a difference in admission rates?
